What the work involves

Dr Michaels Aibangbee is a Senior Lecturer in the Faculty of Health at Charles Darwin University and Course Coordinator of the Master of Psychology (Clinical), known as the MPC. He teaches across Psychology and Counselling, including professional ethics, counselling skills, trauma, and psychological assessment and intervention.

He is also an academic in the School of Medicine at Western Sydney University, where he completed his PhD in Health Sciences. His teaching brings decolonial perspectives and community-led approaches into the preparation of practitioners who will serve culturally diverse communities.

His research looks at the social determinants of health, with a focus on the sexual and reproductive health and rights of migrant and refugee young people. Supported by the Australian Research Council, it uses participatory action research and socio-ecological frameworks, so that young people shape the questions as well as the answers.
